Come join us for a great fundraiser and learn some self-defense as well!

What a great opportunity to support your local Zonta Club and participate in a self -defense class. Bring your friends along and have fun while learning some basic self defense techniques...something we all can use!

Our Charter Luncheon

We had our charter luncheon at McCormicks and Schmicks, downtown Sacramento on June 13, 2009. We welcomed members from the Zonta club of Greater Reno, the Zonta club of Berkley/North Bay and Governor Foissotte. We also had a guest speaker from Women's Empowerment, Amber Stott.

The new Zonta club of Greater Sacramento!

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Welcome to our new blog!

We are excited to announce a new club in town: The Zonta Club of Greater Sacramento! So just what IS a Zonta club, you may ask??
Zonta International seeks to:

improve the legal, political, economic, health, educational and professional status of women through service and advocacy;

work for the advancement of understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of executives in business and the professions;

promote justice and universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms;

be united internationally to foster high ethical standards, implement service programs, and provide mutual support and fellowship for members who serve their communities, their nations and the world.

Individuals join a Zonta Club, and Zonta Clubs, in turn, belong to Zonta International. Individual Zonta Clubs select, fund and participate in community service, education, and advocacy projects that promote women’s economic self-sufficiency, political equality,
access to education, health, and the elimination of violence against women.

Zonta Clubs enjoy a long and proud tradition of cultural, linguistic and professional diversity. Zontians are architects, artists, doctors, educators, entrepreneurs, executives, lawyers, pilots, government officials and more.

By joining forces with women and like-minded men, your voice, service and contributions
can make a lasting and meaningful impact on women's lives.

Community Programs
Zontians commit hundreds of thousands of service hours and millions of dollars to
a wide range of women-focused community service projects such as:

Supporting shelters for survivors of domestic violence.

Establishing micro-credit programs to help women start small businesses.

Empowering girls through educational assistance.

Informing and encouraging women facing cultural and linguistic barriers, about the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.

Sponsoring Z Clubs and Golden Z Clubs for high school, college and university students. Z and Golden Z Clubs develop leadership skills, promote careerexploration and encourage youth to participate in community, school and international service projects.
Are you a business executive or professional who seeks to:
Improve the Lives of Women Worldwide
Promote Women’s Human Rights and Equality
Share with other Professionals
Form International Friendships

If you answered yes to these goals, Zonta Club membership may be for you.
